Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to resolve them.
AI Not Responding
If characters are not responding to messages:
- Check your API key is correct in Settings
- Click Test Connection to verify the API works
- Check your API provider account for rate limits or billing issues
- Try a different AI model
Pages Not Loading
If MadBot pages show errors or blank screens:
- Go to Settings then Permalinks and click Save (flushes rewrite rules)
- Check for plugin conflicts by disabling other plugins temporarily
- Verify PHP version is 8.0 or higher
- Check server error logs for specific errors
License Issues
If your license will not activate:
- Verify the license key is copied correctly (no extra spaces)
- Check you have not exceeded your site limit
- Deactivate on old sites before activating on new ones
- Contact support if problems persist
Slow Performance
To improve performance:
- Enable caching (WP Super Cache or similar)
- Use a CDN for static assets
- Choose a faster AI provider (Groq is very fast)
- Reduce Max Tokens if responses are too long
