First Configuration

Configure the essential settings to get your AI character platform running.

1. AI Provider Setup

The most important step is connecting an AI provider. Go to MadBot then Settings then AI Configuration.

We recommend starting with Groq because it is fast and has a generous free tier.

1. Create an account at console.groq.com
2. Generate an API key in Settings then API Keys
3. Copy the key (starts with gsk_)
4. Paste in MadBot Settings under API Key
5. Select the model Qwen QwQ 32B (recommended)
6. Click Test Connection to verify
7. Save Changes

2. General Settings

Configure your site name and branding in MadBot then Settings then General.

3. Test Your Setup

Visit your site frontend and try chatting with one of the default characters. If everything works, you are ready to customize!
